2012 Highlights.

I was sifting through photos tonight trying to hunt down photos of the year's highlights. My photos are organized by date and most of the them started back in 2009 and 2010. Well I'll be damned if those photos labeled 2010 don't feel like just the other day. How in the world that was almost three years ago I will never know.

I suppose what they say is true. Time flies when you're having fun.

Like back in January when Gwen was just a tiny baby. How is it possible that Carla just threw her 1 year old birthday party? How is she already walking?!

This is last February but it feels like this afternoon.

Oh wait, that's probably because TC spent all afternoon snowblowing the driveway.

Is it summer yet?

Last March we spent a week touring through Old Quebec City and Montreal. It was a blast, and the trip we're planning for March Break this year is going to be even better. Paris, here we come!

Last April we took made our annual pilgrimage deep into the woods in search of fresh maple syrup. This is one of my favorite Canadian traditions and I'm already looking forward to the trip this year.

In April I also ran my very first 10k race and also my first 15k. Actually, this doesn't feel like it was just the other day - it feels like 15 pounds ago. I can't wait to get that feeling of accomplishment back again.

When May rolled around TC and his buddies cleaned up the boat and got it back in the water for another season of sailing. In September they even sailed the World Championships in New York.

June brought about another great summer in Maine. I can still feel the sun on my face and then wind in my hair. That feeling is what is going to get me through this winter.

TC and I had some good adventures this summer and we're already planning a few news one for 2013.

In August I spent an amazing two weeks visiting Atlanta and North Carolina. My college roommates and I spent several of those days enjoying Asheville and getting in some much needed girl time.

This fall TC and I managed to carve a nice and normal pumpkin without loosing a finger or making a trip to the ER. Success!

In November, after a year and a half of online attendance, I finally set foot on the campus that will become my alma mater in May. One more semester to go and I will have a University of Maine diploma to hang on my wall.

Of course, the real highlight of the fall was Southern American Thanksgiving in Canada. Dinner for 17 was a new record and thankfully the turkey did not turn to saw dust.

The snow started a bit earlier than usual this year. In December we had two snow days from school so TC and I took advantage and checked the snowman building right off my winter bucket list.

Finally, to end the year, we spent a perfectly wonderful week in Atlanta with my family for Christmas. Christmas present shopping was especially fun this year. I think I even managed to find a gift for TC that he will love forever.

Ahh, 2012. You were a good year.

What were your highlights of the year?

Thankful November: Day 6 - 11

I went to the Maine for a few hours yesterday. I swear the air just smells different there. Nothing is better than the feeling of coming back to the ole USA.

Aren't they the best? Everything is better and Grandpa and Grandma's house.

It's coming...(cue Jaws music)...

We really do have fun. He's a pretty great husband.

She smells. She drools. She barks. And yet, I still kinda sorta love her. But only a little.

No place I'd rather be. It's where TC and I met. It's where I've made many great friends. And most importantly, they pay me to play in the lake all summer.

Thankful November: Day 2 - 5

You thought I already gave up and wimped out on my Thankful November project, didn't you?

No way, man.

I've put a solid five minutes of work into this. I just thought I'd share it in chunks instead of daily.

You're welcome, by the way.

So, without further ado, I give you days 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 (again).

Every Sunday morning, like clockwork, TC and I have breakfast with two three of our favorite people. We go to the same diner every week and the owner asks where we were if we skip. It's greasy, it's awesome and it's our routine.

Thank you, Steve Jobs. One of these three gadgets is in my hand almost constantly. I'm not sure what I would do without them anymore.

Meg Ryan said that daisies are happy flowers. I couldn't agree more.

Lucky for me, TC keeps me in constant supply.

Every morning I smile at my coffee pot. And then again in the afternoon.

Oh, hey Maple. You're still my favorite.

Thankful For My Pup.

Today was over before I even knew it. It was just one of those days that flies by in a blur. As I walked out of the classroom today I noticed that the calendar had changed to November.

Say what?!

I've been toying with the idea of doing a photo project this month that has to do with being thankful. November is the perfect month to really think about what I'm thankful for. I mean, I should do that all the time, and I do try, but life gets busy and sometimes I forget.

Anywhoo, this might be fun. Here's what I'm thinking: One photo, everyday, with simple text. Nothing fancy. Definitely not something that requires a degree in graphic art. Heck, I don't even need a brand new photo everyday. I'm willing to repurpose old photos that I like. It might be fun, no? Have you played around with pixlr.com? They make it super easy to add text to any photo you've got.

So we'll start today with being thankful for my pup - The best and worst dog in the whole world. She's talented like that.

I can always count on her to lay near me and keep me company. She's always around to clean up my mess too. Just yesterday I dropped a whole container of cherry tomatoes as I was rushing out the door for work and she graciously cleaned all of them up for me. I didn't even have to ask. She's soft and sweet and the best misbehaved dog I know.

Are you doing anything special for the most thankful month of the year?
